Harry Culham

Senior Executive Vice-President and Group Head, CIBC Capital Markets

Harry Culham is responsible for CIBC Capital Markets which provides integrated credit and capital markets products, investment banking advisory services,corporate lending and top-ranked research to corporate, government and institutional clients around the world. In this role, Mr. Culham is Chair and CEO of CIBC World Markets Inc., and is a member of CIBC’s Executive Committee.

Prior to joining CIBC in May 2008, Mr. Culham has held senior roles in capital markets with global banks in Europe and Asia. He started his career with CIBC in the graduate training program.

Mr. Culham chairs the CIBC Children’s Foundation, is a member of the Faculty Advisory Board for the Sauder School of Business and a member of the Women in Capital Markets Advisory Council. He is also on the boards of Mount Sinai Hospital and Branksome Hall. He graduated from the University of British Columbia, Sauder School of Business, and is a Portfolio Management Foundation (PMF) alumnus and Leslie Wong Fellow.

Shawn Beber

Managing Director and Head, U.S. Capital Markets, CIBC Capital Markets

Shawn Beber is Managing Director and Head, U.S. Capital Markets. He is responsible for providing oversight for all CIBC Capital Markets activities in the U.S. Region and is accountable for the strategic vision and growth of the U.S. Capital Markets businesses. Mr. Beber is also a member of the CIBC Capital Markets Management Committee and US Region Executive Committee.

Prior to this role, Mr. Beber was Senior Vice-President, Strategy & Corporate Development for CIBC responsible for identifying, assessing and executing key transactions as well as supporting CIBC’s executives across businesses to develop CIBC’s corporate and strategic business unit strategies.

Prior to joining CIBC’s Strategy & Corporate Development group, Mr. Beber was a member of CIBC’s merchant banking group within CIBC’s Capital Markets line of business where he sourced and executed acquisitions and investments in a broad range of industries. Prior to that, he was a member of CIBC Legal Division, where he advised the merchant banking group on various private equity and debt transactions.

Mr. Beber began his career practicing corporate law at a leading Toronto law firm.

Mr. Beber is a graduate of the combined Master of Business Administration / Bachelor of Laws program from the University of Toronto and holds a BA from the University of Western Ontario. He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada.

Roman S Dubczak

Managing Director and Head, Global Investment Banking, CIBC Capital Markets, CIBC World Markets Inc.

Roman Dubczak is responsible for all financing and advisory activities including mergers and acquisitions, public equity and debt issuance, and infrastructure finance at CIBC. He is a member of CIBC’s Operating Committee, the Capital Markets Executive Committee and a board member of CIBC World Markets Inc. Mr. Dubczak joined CIBC in 1992 and has worked in a variety of capital markets roles. He was previously responsible for CIBC’s global equities business including sales, trading, underwriting, prime brokerage, alternative execution services and research.

Prior to joining CIBC, Mr. Dubczak worked in corporate development, portfolio management and financial management, as well as general audit. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto and a Master of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business, as well as Chartered Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst® designations.

Mr. Dubczak is past Chair of the Investment Industry Association of Canada and is a Trustee of the Fraser Institute. He is also a Vice Chair of St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation and a Director of the CIBC Children’s Foundation.

Christian Exshaw

Managing Director and Head, Global Markets, CIBC Capital Markets

Christian Exshaw is responsible for capital markets sales, trading, research and related activities globally across asset classes. He is a member of CIBC’s Operating Committee and the Capital Markets Management Committee.

Mr. Exshaw joined CIBC in 2008 and previously led the bank’s Capital Markets Trading business. Prior to CIBC, he was Managing Director at Merrill Lynch in London responsible for sales and structuring. Before joining Merrill Lynch, Mr. Exshaw was Managing Director at Dresdner Kleinwort in London where he held a number of senior positions across Global Markets. He began his career in capital markets as an options trader and structurer.

Mr. Exshaw currently serves on the Board of Directors for the TMX Group and is a member of the Children's Aid Foundation’s fundraising committee. From 2012 to 2014, Mr. Exshaw acted as Chair of the Capital Markets United Way Campaign. He holds a Masters of Science in Risk Management and Financial Instruments, and a Masters in Finance from the Institut d’Administration des Entreprises in France.

Wayne Lee

Managing Director and Head, Asia Pacific Region, CIBC

Wayne Lee is Managing Director and Head, Asia Pacific Region. Mr. Lee is based in Hong Kong and is responsible for all business and governance functions under the Asia Pacific regional management structure.

Prior to this role, Mr. Lee was Senior Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer, CIBC Capital Markets, and was also responsible for finance business support to CIBC’s International Operations, and Strategy and Corporate Development.

Mr. Lee joined CIBC in 2001 and held increasingly senior and international positions, including two years in New York. Prior to joining CIBC, he was with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Toronto ​

Mr. Lee is Chair of CIBC’s Asia Pacific Management Committee and a member of the Capital Markets Management Committee. Mr. Lee previously served on the CIBC World Markets Inc. Board of Directors and was a member of the CIBC Pension Funding and Expense Committee. Mr. Lee received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the McGill University (Montreal) and is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Financial Analyst. ​

Kevin Li

Managing Director and Head, European Region, CIBC Capital Markets

Kevin Li is Managing Director and Head, European Region. He is based in London and responsible for all business and governance functions under the European regional management structure.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Li was Managing Director and Head of Canadian Investment Banking based in Toronto. He was responsible for CIBC’s investment banking operations in Canada, including Diversified, Technology, Media & Telecommunications, Real Estate, Financial Institutions, Retail Structured Products, and Power & Utilities. Mr. Li has 20 years of industry experience in a broad range of corporate finance and M&A transactions holding progressively senior roles at CIBC and formerly at Morgan Stanley.

Mr. Li is Chair of CIBC’s European Management Committee and a member of the Capital Markets Management Committee. He is a past recipient of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 Award, and has been a Director of Second Harvest and a member of the President’s Council of St. Michael’s Hospital. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics with a specialization in Finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. ​

Ian Matthews

Managing Director and Chief Administrative Officer, CIBC Capital Markets

Ian Matthews is Managing Director and Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) at CIBC Capital Markets. He is responsible for a broad range of operational support activities globally that help support our Capital Markets business.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Matthews was Managing Director and CAO, CIBC Capital Markets - Canada. He has over 30 years of industry experience and has held progressively senior and international roles at CIBC, including Head, Capital Markets Business Management, CAO for Global Capital Markets in Asia, and Head of Canadian and International Conduit Administration.

Mr. Matthews began his career in banking in 1985, joining CIBC’s Corporate Banking Management Development program before moving into CIBC’s Capital Markets business.

Mr. Matthews is a member of the CIBC Capital Markets Management Committee. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Financial Administrative Studies from the University of Western Ontario. He has also completed the Executive Development Program in Finance from Queen’s University.

Susan Rimmer

Managing Director and Head, Global Corporate Banking, CIBC Capital Markets

Susan Rimmer has taken on leadership of CIBC’s Global Corporate Banking team as Managing Director & Head, Global Corporate Banking. In this role, Susan is responsible for CIBC’s corporate banking business across Canada, USA, Europe & Asia.

Most recently, Ms. Rimmer was Managing Director & Global Head of CIBC’s Debt Capital Markets business. Her responsibilities included investment grade, high yield and government finance fixed income origination & syndication across Canada, USA and the UK. She joined CIBC following a 15 year career in global capital markets and investment banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in London, UK, & Toronto, Canada.

Susan is a member of the CIBC Operating Committee and the Capital Markets Executive Committee. She was appointed to the Board of Directors for CIBC Mellon November 1, 2015. Susan serves as Co-Chair of the annual CIBC United Way Campaign. She holds an Honors BA from Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario and an MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France.
